As the Mail Steamer is on the point of starting Mr. Lobscheid sends to the Colonial Secretary the hurried intelligence
that "authentic information has reached Canton of the arrival of a very large body of Russians at Peking—for what purpose nobody knows"?
As Mr. Lobscheid's information has hitherto proved reliable I think it right to advise you to the above effect;
so much the more as it agrees with the news
